Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has carried out a demolition operation against unauthorised constructions in the Malvani area of Malad West. As part of the action, the civic team from the P North ward demolished around five unauthorised commercial and residential structures.

The demolition operation in the Malvani area of Malad West was led by Kundan Valvi, Assistant Commissioner of P North, along with Designated Officer Sagar Rane and Nitin Chaudhari on Saturday. As part of the action, ground plus two five unauthorised commercial structures, covering approximately 3,000 sq. ft., and ground plus one four unauthorised residential structures, spanning an area of around 1,200 sq. ft., were demolished in the Rathodi area. To ensure the swift and efficient execution of the demolition, two JCB machines and a dedicated team of 20 staff members were deployed.

Last week, a major demolition drive was carried out on Kakkayya Shetty Road in Bhandup West, where 75 unauthorised constructions were demolished. The structures removed included 62 homes and 13 shops that had encroached upon the road.

As a result of this action, the road, which was previously just 3 meters wide, stretching from Hind Rectifier Company to Kakkayya Shetty, has now been expanded to 18.30 meters.
