Mumbai, the city of dreams, lies in the rich tapestry of different flavours and tastes appealing and accommodating different palates. The city, particularly the south of it, officially Mumbai City District or unofficially SoBo, is known for its opulence, coated with flakes of history.

Anand Mahindra's List

This is also an avenue for an establishment that while standing in the present, gleefully gazes at the past, with a tinge of luxury and comfort.

Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra, who is one of the most renowned residents of this part of the city, responded to a list of the best restaurants in Fort and Colaba and South Mumbai or SoBo at large.

'Right On Top'

In a short post on X, Anand Mahindra summed up his preferred place in the city. In his post, with a link of the establishment, Mahindra said, "I have no quarrel with this list. Especially since ARAKU is right at the top!"

The cafe/eating establishment in reference here is ARAKU, located at 1, Sunny House, Mandlik Road, behind The Taj Mahal Palace, Apollo Bunder, Colaba.

The cafe claims to have its roots in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. The cafe is named after the coffee plantations of Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh.

Araku

Here, Araku is known for its terroir-mapped organic coffee and focus on regenerative agriculture. The restaurant claims that its hyperlocal ingredients are sourced from farms across the country.
