Meerut: Muskan and her lover Sahil, accused of brutally murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput and hiding body parts in a drum, are reportedly struggling with drug withdrawal symptoms in jail.

The accused, who have been lodged in jail are reportedly desperately demanding drugs over food. According to the sources, both the accused have a history of drug addiction and are experiencing severe distress since being placed in judicial custody. Allegedly, they requested drugs while incarcerated. As a result, both accused have been placed under observation at the jail's de-addiction centre.

As per the sources, if the condition of both the accused further deteriorates, they may be transferred to medical supervision. According to sources, stabilisation may take 8-10 days. At present, the doctors in the jail are closely monitoring their health.

Muskan's relatives had earlier blamed Sahil for initiating her into substance abuse. They also alleged that the couple was hooked on injecting narcotics and various other intoxicants.

Notably, after the preliminary inquiry, the police revealed that Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant navy officer and the husband of Muskan, was purportedly administered drugs and then brutally murdered on March 4, prior to his body being mutilated and encased in a drum with concrete. Muskan along with her boyfriend Sahil allegedly executed the killing. During the investigation into the murder case, Muskan and Sahil were taken into custody on March 18 after Rajput's family notified authorities about his disappearance.

Muskan Killed Her Merchant Navy Officer Husband

According to the police, Muskan and Sahil were arrested on March 18 for the brutal murder of Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant navy officer. The autopsy report revealed the extreme brutality of the crime, with Rajput's head severed, hands cut off, and legs bent backwards. The cause of death was determined to be shock and excessive bleeding.

Muskan's family had previously accused Sahil of introducing her to drugs, claiming that the duo was addicted to drug injections and various other substances. Sources suggest that both Muskan and Sahil are struggling with severe withdrawal symptoms, having been placed under observation at the de-addiction centre within the jail.

"We are monitoring their condition closely," said Senior Jail Superintendent Dr Viresh Raj Sharma, adding, "All necessary medical facilities are available for inmates, and we are preparing to conduct counselling through the de-addiction centre."

Saurabh Rajput's Brutal Murder

The murder of Saurabh Rajput has sent shockwaves through the community, with many questioning how such a heinous crime could have occurred. Muskan and Sahil's addiction and subsequent descent into crime have raised concerns about the impact of substance abuse on individuals and society.

According to doctors who conducted the post-mortem, Rajput was stabbed in the heart with extreme force three times, indicating a sustained and violent attack. The couple's six-year-old daughter has been left without a father, and the family is still reeling from the shock of the brutal crime.

Meanwhile, as Muskan and Sahil face justice for their crimes, questions remain about the effectiveness of the justice system in addressing addiction and rehabilitation.

"We need to look at the root causes of addiction and provide support and resources for those struggling," said a spokesperson for the jail administration. He further added, "Our goal is to help inmates overcome their addiction and become productive members of society upon release."

Police Raid Medical Store

Meanwhile, a raid was conducted by the Drugs Department team at the medical store, located in Dawa Bazar located in Meerut's Khairnagar City on Sunday, due to alleged links to Muskan, who purchased prescription drugs. The team, comprising two Drugs Department inspectors and additional staff, discovered that Muskan bought sleeping pills using a digital prescription. Further investigation revealed she also acquired an injection called Mezolam.

The team examines the transaction and scrutinises the store's accounts, inventory, and billing records. The medical store operator claimed they were unaware of Muskan's intentions for purchasing the drugs.

However, the ongoing investigation may lead to legal action against the store, resulting in the revocation of its license. The police have questioned the operator of the medical store regarding the incident, and further action will be taken based on the investigation's findings.
