Emmerdale viewers are in for a thrilling ride next week as Caleb Milligan finds himself at the centre of Joe Tate's ominous scheme.
Joe, who is grappling with chronic kidney disease and faces a bleak future without a transplant, had earlier this year attempted to drug his half-brother, Noah Dingle, to secure his kidney. However, his private doctor, Dr Crowley, confirmed that Noah wasn't a match. This led Joe to target another family member, his uncle Caleb.
In a convoluted blackmail plot involving Dr Manpreet Sharma, Joe gained her trust by pretending to pay off a blackmailer, thereby winning her over. He then duped her into providing him with a sample of Caleb's blood, keeping his 'true' intentions hidden.
Upon testing the blood, Dr Crowley confirmed that Caleb was indeed a suitable donor, paving the way for their next devious move. In upcoming scenes this week, Caleb will be left fighting for his life as Joe resorts to desperate and dark tactics to secure his kidney..., reports Leicestershire Live.
For those who have been following the soap opera for a long time, the familial connection between the two characters will be familiar. But for newcomers, here's a recap... Frank Tate once had an affair with a then-married Faith Dingle, resulting in the secret birth of their son Caleb.
Caleb made his entrance into the village in 2022 as the long-lost relative of Cain and Chas Dingle. It was later revealed in a dramatic twist that his biological father was none other than Frank.
Joe, the offspring of Chris Tate, is also the grandson of Frank Tate, making Caleb his uncle. In upcoming episodes, Dr Crowley refuses to move forward with their scheme until Ross Barton, hired by Kim Tate to monitor Joe, is handled.
Shortly after, Ross gets a distressing call that his brother Pete has been attacked and he rushes to the hospital.
With Ross preoccupied, Dr Crowley and Joe decide to go ahead with the operation the next day. Unbeknown to Caleb, he has been identified by the seriously ill Joe as the answer to his health problems.
In a shocking turn of events, Joe and his new accomplice Gina try to drug Caleb as part of their plan, but when things don't go as expected, Joe turns to violence.
Joe orders Shaun to stab Caleb and steal his car, before rushing the critically injured man to a private surgery where Dr Crowley is waiting.
Dr Crowley is shocked by the situation, voicing concern that he may not be able to save Caleb due to the severity of his injuries.
The tension rises as Caleb flatlines on the operating table, with Dr Crowley frantically trying to save him and perform the transplant.
Meanwhile, Ross and Charity Dingle are on a quest to find Joe - but will they get to him in time?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
