Loco Pilot Recruitment Process

You may be surprised to know that direct recruitment cannot make a loco pilot. Initially, candidates are appointed as Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP). After this, they are given rigorous training. Only after gaining training and experience, the candidate is allowed to drive the train as a full-fledged loco pilot.

What is the salary of a loco pilot?

According to reports, the salary of a loco pilot can vary depending on their experience:

Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP): ₹25,000 to ₹35,000 per month

Experienced Loco Pilot: ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 per month

Apart from this, various allowances, perks and other facilities are also provided to railway employees, which increases their total income.

Eligibility required to become a loco pilot

To become a loco pilot, the candidate has to fulfill the educational qualification given below:

It is mandatory to have passed 12th with at least 50% marks from a recognized board.

ITI certificate in the relevant trade is mandatory.

Diploma or graduation may also be required for some posts.

How is the selection process done?

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) completes the selection process for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in three stages:

Stage 1 – CBT (Computer Based Test)

Stage 2 – Advanced Level Test and Psychometric Test

Stage 3 – Document Verification and Medical Test
