During Thursday's episode of BBC Breakfast, the show experienced an unexpected pause when television guest Scott Bryan took a moment to share some poignant news.
The broadcast journalist joined presenters Nina Warhurst and Charlie Stayt to discuss the latest BAFTA Award nominations, including a nod for Baby Reindeer's Richard Gaad.
After their analysis of the impending glamour of the awards, Scott seized the opportunity to deliver a personal message.
Speaking on-air, the TV critic opened up about his father's illness, mentioning he was watching from his hospital bed, and used the platform to express his family's heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Salisbury District Hospital.
As the segment was drawing to a close, Scott interjected to convey his deep appreciation to the care providers looking after his father, reports .
He remarked: "Also just very quickly my dad's unwell in hospital but he asked me because he knows that he'll be watching to say thank you to Salisbury District hospital for all of their work that they've been doing for him the last few days."
Nina sympathetically responded: "Ohh that's lovely," while Charlie inquired further: "What's your dad's name?" Scott answered: "Glen."
