The bodies of Gene Hackman , the legendary actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa , remain unclaimed at the New Mexico medical examiner ’s office even a month after their demise.
According to TMZ, Hackman and Arakawa’s names were mentioned in the list of unclaimed decedents on March 24, where the list gets updated every Monday. However, the officials mentioned that the bodies being unclaimed for a month is not unusual, suggesting that the family might be in the process of arranging a funeral.
Hackman's ChildrenThe ‘Enemy of The State’ actor had mentioned the tumultuous relationship with his children with his former wife, Faye Maltese- Christopher, 65, Elizabeth, 63, and Leslie, 58 - in the previous interviews, stating that the distance between the home and his star-studded life gradually increased.
According to the NY Post, after their demise was announced over the globe, they released a statement stating, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Gene Hackman, and his wife, Betsy. He was loved and admired by millions around the world for his brilliant acting career, but to us, he was always just Dad and Grandpa. We will miss him sorely and are devastated by the loss.”
The Cause of Death Gene Hackman and Betsy Awakawa’s dead bodies were found about two weeks after they died. The New Mexico Chief Medical Examiner, Heather Jarrell, revealed that Arawaka died a week before the actor due to the rare flu-like disease, hantavirus . However, Hackman is believed to have died after a week due to heart complications, and he was also suffering from Alzheimer's.
“He was in a very poor state of health. He was in an advanced state of Alzheimer’s disease, and it was quite possible he did not know that she was deceased,” the New Mexico Chief Medical Examiner stated during the press conference in March.
