James Bond fans have been left urging former 007 star Pierce Brosnan to be involved with any forthcoming movies as the actor discussed the iconic role during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday (March 29).
Pierce, 71, played James Bond in four films, including: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002), before Daniel Craig took over the iconic role.
Talk show host Jonathan asked Pierce if he had been approached to be involved in any forthcoming Bond movies, but he confirmed he hadn't been contacted.
Discussing rumours about potentially playing an older Bond figure, Pierce says: "No-one's spoken to me about it. I've heard all of the rumours. Listen, they know where to find me. Let's see where the wind takes us."
He added: "It's going to be another man's job. I'm not looking to go there. I'm quite happy with my career. I've done it, it was wonderful. Delightful kind of notion to contemplate."
Speaking also about rumours Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in the running to take over the role from Daniel Craig, Pierce added: "I think he would make a very fine Bond. He was actually in one of the movies I made called The Greatest.
"This young man we cast as 'The Greatest'. He was so impressive then. He just had this charisma, he had this presence... so he would be good. But there's many men on the list I'm sure."
Credited with helping Daniel Craig decide to take on the role, Pierce added: "I don't know if I helped Daniel make up his mind. Daniel is his own man. We talked about that period of time and said, 'Go do it. You've got it, run with it.'"
Although it seems Bond is never far from Pierce's mind, he explained: "I'm recognised. He's with me for life [Bond]. It was great. A magical time in my life.
"It opened a lot of doors and allowed me to go off and form my own company and make my own movies - The Thomas Crown Affair/ The Matador - it gave me access to a whole other world as an actor, employment."
Pierce's cnversation with Jonathan about his time as James Bond sparked reaction among fans who are demaning the former James Bond return as 007.
On X, on person wrote: "Would love Pierce Brosnan have some involvement with James Bond even if it was a cameo appearance #JonathanRoss #JamesBond."
A second added: "Pierce Brosnan is still an absolute chap", while a third chimed in: "Would be good if Pierce Brosnan was to come back as an older Bond. #TheJonathanRossShow."
"Pierce Brosnan is such a fine man. Can never forget his face nor physique", exclaimed one viewer as another gushed: "The names Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan."
