Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan stars in new Paramount+ drama as the head of the Harringan crime family. The new Guy Ritchie series focuses on the battle between two London crime families within a global crime syndicate.
Guy Ritchie serves as an executive producer for the new crime drama on Paramount+, which has a stellar cast with Oscar nominee Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Oscar winner Helen Mirren and upcoming actors.
Speaking about his character Conrad Harrigan, Pierce Brosnan said: "It's definitely a robust character. He's a mangled man who has charisma, but he's someone who is dangerously on the edge.
"And he's aligned with a wife who is equally outrageous, and they've managed to live a very good life in this kind of rather dangerous underworld."
Pierce Brosnan is most famous for playing James Bond in four films as well as appear in Mamma Mia!, Black Adam, Dante's Peak and The World's End.
Beyond his career in TV and film, Pierce is currently married to his "beautiful brown-eyed girl" and they enjoy a peaceful life together. But what else do we know about the former Bond star's life?
Pierce Brosnan married Australian actress Cassandra Harris in December 1980 and they have a son together.
In 1991, Cassandra Harris died following a battle with ovarian cancer. She was just 43 years old at the time of her passing and left behind her three children, Charlotte, Christopher, and Sean. This was a dark time for Pierce, who'd loved his first wife.
In June 2013, his daughter Charlotte died from ovarian cancer at the age of just 41. Charlotte's death came strikingly close to the age at which Cassandra had passed.
During a poignant moment in the 2014 Stand Up To Cancer telethon, Pierce opened up about the harrowing experience of losing both Charlotte and Cassandra: "To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that kind of sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche.
"I held the generous, strong, beautiful hand of my first wife Cassie as ovarian cancer took her life much too soon. And just last year, I held the hand of my funny, wonderful daughter Charlotte before she too died from this wretched, inherited disease."
Throughout this difficult period, Pierce's devoted wife Keely has stood by him and offered unwavering support. He attributes his gradual healing to her presence in his life.
In a 2013 interview with the Mail Online, Pierce opened up about Keely's profound impact: "Keely has always been kind and compassionate and encouraged me to mourn Cassie. [...] I've always been a positive thinker. I suppose Keely is my North Star, always looking out for me."
Pierce Brosnan is currently married to Keely Shaye Smith after they tied the knot at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, Ireland, on August 4, 2001.
They first met in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, back in 1994, when Keely, a TV correspondent at the time, went to interview the Cheers star Ted Danson. They met at a party and the connection was instant.
Reflecting on her first impression of Pierce in a 2001 People magazine interview, Keely confessed: "He was captivating. Tall, dark and handsome-everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had this mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I thought, 'Wow! Wow!'".
Their romance quickly blossomed, and they shared their first date shortly after, reminiscent of a scene pulled straight from a classic film. Keely reminisced: "We sat down under the stars and he held my hand. There were fireworks going off over our heads, and Kenny Loggins was singing.
"We talked until three in the morning. I understand why women find him sexy because he is an appealing man. He really likes and appreciates women."
Pierce and Keely have two children together - a son named Dylan born in 1997, followed by another son Paris in 2001.
Pierce Brosnan had one son together with Cassandra, namely Sean, and also raised Harris' two children from her prior marriage, Charlotte and Chris.
Making time for his children is especially important for Pierce, whose own father left the family home when he was very young.
Speaking openly with the Gentleman's Journal in 2021, Pierce shared: "I cherish family very much. I cherish being a father. I did not grow up with a father figure or with a solid family. There was deep fracture, a certain isolation and an aloneness which wielded the wonderful power of my imagination. I had to get by on my own sensing and intuition. So I value and love the family."
On February 11, 2015, Pierce Brosnan's tranquil life was disrupted when a sudden fire broke out at their 13,000 square foot beachside home in Malibu.
A portion of their house caught fire and the fire department was contacted immediately. As many as 20 firefighters responded to the first call and the flames were put out within 30 minutes, although the home had already suffered heavy damage.
No one was injured during the incident, as all members of the family were able to safely evacuate. The damage was estimated to be around worth $1 million.
In an interview with Details magazine at the time, the actor shared: "I had just done a week of meditation classes, so I was in this Zen zone of reflection when the [expletive] hit the proverbial fan.
"There were paintings, first-edition books - James Joyce's Ulysses - the Aston Martin. I looked into the garage, and the car cover was engulfed in flames. In that nanosecond, you think, 'Do I try to save it?' But it's a car. You take the blow and move on, give thanks you're alive."
Mobland is released on Paramount+ weekly from March 30.
