Traffic is building on the M1 southbound in Hertfordshire after a multi-vehicle crash. Multiple lanes have been closed off on the busy motorway, and drivers have been warned to expect long delays.

National Highways said the lanes were shut between junction nine for Harpenden and junction eight for Hemel Hempstead. It has since reopened lane three out of the four. There is around four miles of congestion.
