is giving away £35 vouchers to shoppers as part of its £35th anniversary celebrations this week. The discount chain said it would give vouchers to shoppers who shared the same birthday.
opened its first grocery store in back in 1948 and opened its first UK store over forty years later in 1990 - on April 5, to be precise. The supermarket's first store was in Stechford, and today, Aldi has more than 1,050 stores and around 45,000 staff members across the UK.
The supermarket's official UK birthday falls this weekend on Saturday, and anyone who shares the same birthday - no matter the year - can bag themselves a free £35 voucher.
Although, you will need to be over the age of 18 to enter the competition. This means you must've been born before 2007 - those born after will not be able to enter. It also has to be yourself, so if your child has a birthday on April 5, you will not be able to enter.
However, there is a catch. Only 35 shoppers will be eligible to win the birthday vouchers. To enter, shoppers simply need to send an email to BirthdayTwinsCompetition@aldi.co.uk this month to be put into the draw.

In your email, you must provide your full name and your email address. If you are selected as a winner, you will then need to provide valid proof that you were born on April 5. This can be a photo of your ID - such as a driving licence or passport - or a birth certificate.
The competition officially opened on Wednesday, April 2, and will close on Friday, May 2. Aldi will announce the 35 winners at random over the week of May 5 until May 11.
Aldi will contact the winner through the email address provided in their competition entry within seven days of winning. The lucky shopper will then have a week to respond and provide proof of their birthday, if they don't the prize will be retracted and another winner will be randomly pulled from the draw.
Rebecca Heley, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 35 years of Aldi in the UK and believe that everyone should have access to an Aldi store nearby. As we mark this milestone and reflect on how much Aldi has grown since its very first store opening, we wanted to ensure our celebrations were shared with those across Britain who have been on this journey with us.”
“It’s our way of saying thank you to our loyal shoppers by making their birthdays extra special this year. We hope our birthday twins enjoy this small gift from us and have a fantastic celebration.”
