A customer was frustrated to be told they would have to wait seven working days to view their account information.

The bemused person contacted the bank over social media to share their experience. They said: "I go into a branch to get a bank statement and you're telling me I have to wait 7 working days? To print off some sheets of paper?"

In response, Barclays apologised that they weren't able to view their statements more quickly. The group explained: "Any paper statement requests would be sent via post, which can take up to 7 working days at the moment."

You can order an up-to-date statement or a copy of a previous one in branch. You can also order a copy of your previous statements by calling Telephone Banking.

The Barclays explains: "Statements are sent by 2nd class post and should arrive within 5 to 7 days, as long as there's a normal Royal Mail service. Your Online Statement will be uploaded 2 working days after the working day you have requested it."

However, the bank did offer an alternative way the customer could view their details, saying: "If you need those quicker and have statements available online, you can print those yourself."

If you have the Barclays app, you can see your statements by opening 'More' on the home page and then selecting 'Statements and Documents'.

You can also access your statements by logging into Online Banking, and then under your profile selecting 'My Barclays documents'.

Then you can select a document from any of your accounts, which you can view, download and print off as you need.
