A stunning seven-mile walk in Cornwall takes explorers past a pretty beach and dramatic cliffs. According to , a company that curates active outdoor adventures, the three-hour Lizard Peninsula Circular Walk provides a striking contrast between the "rugged coastline and the clear turquoise sea".It begins at Kynance Cove, on the eastern side of Mount's Bay, on the Lizard Peninsula. Before you've even set off you'll be presented with a stunning beach with "white sand, rock formations and clear seas", the website says.

It was named among the best beaches in the 2024 edition of A previous study conducted by photo wall art creator also found that it's the in the UK, with 66,000 users posting photos of it - making for a fitting reward at the end of a long trail. Motorists can park up at a National Trust car park before setting off along the coastal path, where you'll pass above Pentreath Beach and on through Polpeor Cove, Lizard Point (where you'll find another superb beach), Pen Olver, Lizard Village, and back to Kynance Cove.

Highlights include amazing views of the lighthouse and lifeboat station, as well as the Marconi Wireless Museum. Close to the lighthouse is the Lion's Den, an eye-catching 35-metre-deep hole in the cliffs created when a sea cave roof collapsed.

Fans of the BBC drama series Poldark Various can also relive scenes filmed at Gunwalloe and Lizard Point.

And just beyond Polpear Cove, you may even get the chance to spot seals, which often swim in the shallow waters, and choughs, a member of the crow family rooted in Cornish culture, flying overhead.

However, the route may not be best suited for less experienced trekkers, and is described as "challenging" by the National Trust.

It features some slopes and steps, and follows a stony cliff path with a height gain of a whopping 220 metres.

The walk is said to be a lovely experience in springtime, when the grassland is scattered with a wide variety of wildflowers including pink thrift.

Meanwhile, in Autumn, walkers will encounter bushes filled with birdlife, including pipits, warblers and buntings.

Lizard was included in 's recent list of the 30 greatest villages in the UK, alongside Ombersley in Worcestershire and Aberffraw in Anglesey, meaning there's no shortage of interesting things to see in the area.

According to the Much Better Adventures, which ranks the route among its top 10 walks in the UK, you'll also find a former fisherman's cottage that's been converted into a cafe above the Kyance Cove's beach where you can enjoy some well-earned refreshments after the walk.
