Three persons were hurt in a tragic accident at a residential flat in Asif Nagar due to a malfunctioning elevator. The event happened at Naco Shams Residency on Sunday evening.
Residents report that three youngsters were among the six individuals that entered the fifth-floor elevator. The elevator abruptly crashed and landed quickly as it was descending to the bottom level.
Building inhabitants hurried to the area after hearing the loud bang and freed the six trapped individuals. Children were uninjured, but three people with serious injuries were sent to the hospital for treatment.
After learning about the event, Majid Hussain, the MLA for AIMIM Nampally, went to the building. The inquiry was started by the Asif Nagar police, who also identified the reason for the failure. The incident brings to light persistent issues with building safety regulations.
A four-and-a-half-year-old kid died earlier in March after being trapped in the elevator of an apartment block in Santosh Nagar Colony, Mehdipatnam.
The apartment’s security guy has a kid named Surender. He became caught between the doors when he attempted to enter the lift compartment via the collapsable doors while playing. After being taken to the hospital in a hurry, the medical staff pronounced him dead.
