Ambati Rayudu’s affection for MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is no secret. Several memes dissecting Rayudu's fandom for Dhoni are flooding the internet.
All commentators have to keep personal bias aside while commentating on a game, but Rayudu’s allegiance is clearly evident from whatever he utters on air.

Despite the widespread outrage over CSK's disastrous performance in the IPL 2025, where they have suffered four consecutive losses, Rayudu has emerged as their biggest supporter, consistently praising them.
A video has gone viral on the internet from the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) game at the latter’s home venue in Mullanpur in New Chandigarh.

Rayudu was involved in an ugly fight with former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, with both accusing each other of being a ‘girgit’ (chameleon).
Rayudu accused Sidhu of being a chameleon as he changed his side often during the match. While Rayudu started laughing after making such distasteful remarks on live TV, Sidhu gave him a stern reply.
“Is sansar me girgit agar kisi ka aaradhyadev hai to vo tumhara hai (if there's someone in this world who worships a chameleon, it is you),” Sidhu said before bursting into a huge laugh.
Here’s the video:

Sidhu’s reply was directed at Rayudu, but many people on the internet misconstrued his remarks as an indirect dig at Dhoni.

The confusion arose from Sindhu’s use of a complex Hindi word, ‘aaradhyadev,’ which isn’t part of our daily conversations. This word is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘aaradhya’, meaning ‘deity whom we worship’.
Unversed with the actual meaning, some people misconstrued its meaning to be ‘someone whom we idolise’ and concluded that Sidhu was taking an indirect dig at the CSK legend because Rayudu idolises Dhoni.
