Sanaa According to Houthi-controlled health officials, the number of people killed by US airstrikes on the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah has increased to 14, while 15 more have been injured.
Women and children made up the bulk of the casualties, they claimed on Thursday, adding that the number of fatalities rose when the critically wounded passed away in the hospital, according to Xinhua news agency.
Health officials and local people, who also posted video footage on social media after the attacks, said that the tragedy happened when US military aeroplanes hit houses in the Amin Muqbil residential district.
According to Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, the US carried out 50 airstrikes in northern Yemen, encompassing the capital Sanaa and the provinces of Amran, Dhamar, and Ibb, including these attacks on Hodeidah.
According to locals, Amran and Ibb’s telephone network infrastructure was singled out by the strikes.
It is the most recent wave of US airstrikes since March 15, when the US began attacking again in an effort to dissuade the Houthi group from attacking Israel after the truce agreement in Gaza fell through.
A Houthi drone hit a residential home in the Red Sea province of Hodeidah, Yemen, on Thursday, killing three children, a local government official told Xinhua news agency.
The official, who asked to remain anonymous, acknowledged that Houthi troops fired the drone, but it struck a civilian home in Hodeidah’s Hays area instead of its intended target.
“The drone attack claimed the lives of three children from a single family and left two others wounded,” according to the official.
