Fans of the DC Universe got their first sneak peek at Milly Alcock in her Supergirl costume as filming continues for the new movie 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow'. This marks Supergirl's first solo film since the 1984 version, and excitement has been building around what the character’s look will be in this updated take on the Kryptonian heroine.
Photos taken from the movie’s set were recently shared online, showing Alcock in full costume as Kara Zor-El . The image appears to show her standing on top of a large military-style vehicle. Though the photo captures her from the side and back, it still offers a clear view of several key elements of her outfit.
Observers noted that the costume includes long blue sleeves, a bold gold belt, a red skirt, and matching red boots. Alcock also seems to be wearing a cape — although it’s short in the picture, it's possible that its length might be extended with CGI in the final version of the film.
The suit seems closely based on the comic book version from 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow', which is likely intentional. The movie is being adapted from that very comic, and with Tom King — the original comic book writer — helping shape the film's story, the filmmakers seem committed to staying faithful to the source material. That includes bringing Supergirl's iconic costume to life in a way that longtime fans will recognize.
While the costume was the main highlight, people also wondered about the scene being filmed. Since Kara was spotted on a military-style vehicle, some began to speculate whether her character might have a conflict involving the military. It's not clear whether the scene takes place on Earth or in space, though the original comic storyline mostly takes place off Earth. That part of the plot remains a mystery for now.
Even though the photo doesn’t offer a close-up look at every detail, it gave fans enough to confirm that the new costume reflects the tone and style of the comics. Many are now hoping that DC Studios and director James Gunn will officially release a full, high-quality image of the costume soon, especially before more scenes are shot outdoors and leak to the public.
Until then, fans will have to wait patiently as filming continues. Based on what’s been seen so far, 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' appears to be staying true to the comic’s vision — both in story and style.
