UPI Down: Currently in India, large -scale people pay through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), but on Saturday 12 April 2025, users have faced problems due to major faults in Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Users of apps like Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay on social media have complained of stagnation of digital payments while sharing screen-shots. At the same time, #UPIDOWN is trending on X.
Due to the downs of UPI, there was chaos in many people who were dependent on UPI for daily payments including local purchases, bill payments and money transfer. The outage was widely reported on social media and tracked in real time by monitoring websites. The disruption led to a rapid increase in complaints on the platform dowdaters monitoring online service problems. According to the site, the number of complaints exceeded 1,200 around 12:00 pm. About 66 percent of the users said that they were having problems in paying, while 34 percent reported the problem in fund transfers.
The outage affected users of various banks and platforms, which points to a broad network problem within the UPI infrastructure. Explain that UPI is a popular quick payment system developed by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), which is operated under the supervision of RBI. It enables users to transfer funds immediately among bank accounts through mobile apps without any fee from NPCI.
