We're all aware that although buying new white clothes is so satisfying, they rarely stay pristine for long. T-shirts are particular stain magnets, and even if we're careful not to spill food and drinks, they can still become dirty and marked in other ways.
Under the armpit, deodorant, fake tan and sweat can cause unsightly yellow or orange stains. These don't always come out in the wash, instead fading to an ugly grey colour. But before you throw your stained t-shirts away and invest in new ones, there's one cleaning solution you might want to try.
Lifestyle influencer and cleaning pro Chantel Mila hailed an easy way to get rid of these stains for good, and it gets to work in just half an hour.
There's no need to invest in any pricey cleaning products or stain removers either, as you can use three simple and cheap household products that will do the trick.
And there's also minimal effort or scrubbing involved, making it perfect for trying out and leaving to work its magic while you do other tasks around the house. Here's how to do it.
How to get rid of armpit stains on clothesIf you're starting to notice unsightly yellow stains on the underarms of your clothes, all you need to do is make an easy three-ingredient cleaning paste that will blast those marks away and leave them looking pristine again.
Just mix together one tablespoon of baking soda, dish soap and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl, and apply the solution directly on to the affected areas.
Then, just leave the paste to penetrate into the stain for around half an hour before washing as normal. Demonstrating on one of her own stained t-shirts, Chantel carried out the trick herself - and after a spin in the machine, it looked as good as new again.
Baking soda has natural bleaching properties, and when combined with hydrogen peroxide, it creates a powerful stain remover. However, make sure to only use a small amount of each, and wear gloves if you're concerned about it irritating your skin.
