Manchester United star Amad apologised to team-mate Bryan Mbeumo after enthusiastically rubbing the Cameroon international's head while celebrating the Red Devils' fourth goal against Wolves. United were in inspired form at Molineux on Monday evening as they thumped the Black Country side 4-1.
United appear to have finally turned a corner under Ruben Amorim following an underwhelming start to the season and are now just one point off the top four in the Premier League following Monday's comprehensive win. The north west giants opened the scoring midway through the first-half as Bruno Fernandes struck, before Wolves levelled through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde at the end of the opening period. The away side then turned it on after the interval as Mbeumo and Mount found the back of the net, with Fernandes adding his second of the night from the penalty spot late on.
Following Fernandes' penalty, United players came together to celebrate. And Amad was spotted patting Mbeumo on the head before vigorously rubbing the former Brentford man's head with his palms and his fingertips.
Amad then had his own head grabbed by team-mate Lisandro Martinez before the winger pushed the defender's arm away.
And after the match, Amad took to Instagram to offer an apology to Mbeumo as he wrote: "Sorry Bryan." The Ivory Coast international also included a disappointed face emoji.
Joshua Zirkzee replied as he exclaimed: "So he's allowed but I'm not? @mbeumo." And Amad responded to the Netherlands striker as he penned: "Not everyone is Amad bro." Mbeumo then added his own comment as he posted four angry face emojis.
Amorim will be desperate for his side to kick on following their performance against Wolves. And after the showdown at Molineux, the Portuguese coach said: "I'm feeling good. I think we played well, most of the time.
"I think we disconnected a little bit after the first goal, that hurt us. But in the second-half, everyone felt we were there to win the game and that was a good feeling.
"We need to be concerned about how we concede a goal when we have full control of the game. We are so near to score a second goal to kill, a little bit, the game. But I'm pleased with the response after half-time.
"[I was] trying to explain to the players [at half time] we have 45 minutes to win the three points that are crucial for our life."
And Amorim added: "We have always to build momentum. We need to reach a point in this club that we can have 20 wins in a row. The next one is so important and crucial to win."
