One of Netflix‘s latest popular series has been renewed for a second season.
The sports teen drama Finding Her Edgewhich premiered just last month, has been renewed for a second season, Netflix announced. The series debuted in Netflix’s Top 10 charts for English television, and has climbed up to third in the top 10 this week. The series also reached the top 10 in 81 countries, and has already earned more than 12 million views.
In a statement on the renewal, showrunner Jeff Norton thanked Netflix and everyone who watched for being able to continue telling the story, which is based on the novel of the same name by Jennifer Iacopelli.
“I set out to make a show about love, featuring characters navigating a particularly difficult path in their lives and in their sport,” said Norton. “It’s a true gift to be able to work with such a talented cast to extend these characters’ journeys in Season 2, with the support of Netflix and WildBrain. I’m certain fans will be delighted as we delve deeper into the two love triangles that anchor our show—the romantic one and the familial one. There’s plenty of drama to come both on and off the ice.”
Finding Her Edge stars Madelyn Keys, Harmon Walsh, Alexandra Bealton, Cale Ambrozic, Olly Atkins, Meredith Forlenza, Alice Malakhov, Niko Ceci, and Millie Davis. The series is directed by Shamim Sarif and Jacqueline Pepall, and comes from writers Shelley Scarrow (head writer), Sabrina Sherif, Norton, and Pepall.
Finding Her Edge “follows the three Russo sisters, heirs to a struggling figure skating dynasty. As middle sister, seventeen-year-old Adriana trains for the World Championships with new partner Brayden, while still harbouring feelings for her first love and former partner, Freddie,” reads the show’s official synopsis. “Her life becomes complicated when she and Brayden pretend to be a couple off the ice so they can land a sponsorship to keep the financially struggling Russo rink afloat.”
