Michael Carrick has received a potential boost to his chances of landing the Manchester United manager's role on a permanent basis. United appointed Carrick as interim head coach until the end of the season, and he has enjoyed an impressive stint at the helm so far.
United have won four of Carrick's five matches in charge at Old Trafford, with the remaining fixture ending in a draw with West Ham. That run of form has seen the Reds climb to fourth place in thePremier League table, significantly improving their prospects of Champions League qualification.
Speculation continues to mount over who could take on the role of United's permanent manager in the summer, with Ruben Amorim having last held the position before his departure back in January.

Zidane has been linked with the United job on a number of occasions in the past, yet there have never been any concrete reports to suggest that such an appointment could genuinely be on the horizon.
Now, however, there has been a development regarding Zidane's future, with the former Real Madrid boss having been without a managerial role since leaving his second stint at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2021.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Zidane has reached a 'verbal agreement' to take charge of the France national team.

It has been reported that Zidane will be assuming the role in the summer following the conclusion of the World Cup, with current head coach Didier Deschamps poised to guide the nation through the tournament which is being held across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Whilst Zidane hasn't been directly connected with the United position since Carrick's appointment, if the report proves accurate, it would provide the United interim manager with a boost should he harbour any ambitions of securing the Old Trafford role on a permanent basis.
United are presently gearing up to take on Everton in their upcoming Premier League fixture on Monday night (8pm kick-off).
They will be aiming to bolster their position in qualifying for the Champions League with crucial three points on their visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
