Uttar Pradesh News: If you regularly purchase bottled water, it's time to be cautious. The Food Safety and Drug Administration in Uttar Pradesh has taken significant action, revealing that 110 brands of bottled water have failed safety tests.

Immediate Suspension of Licenses

The licenses of these brands have been suspended with immediate effect. This news is crucial for your health, as what you believe to be clean water could potentially make you ill.

Quality Issues with Ghee as Well

Not only water, but the purity of ghee has also come under scrutiny. Five brands of ghee have been found substandard, leading to an immediate halt on their sale, storage, and production. Dr. Roshan Jacob, the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration, has issued strict orders to all districts to cease operations of these factories to protect public health.

Bacteria and Yeast Found in Water Samples

To ensure the quality of bottled water, the department launched a large-scale campaign, collecting samples from various districts. Out of these, 86 samples were tested in state labs, while 26 were sent to a central lab. The results were alarming, as all brands failed to meet safety standards.

Dr. Jacob's Firm Actions

The report indicated the presence of bacteria and yeast in the water, which could have severe adverse effects on health. Dr. Jacob clarified that licenses were suspended for those brands deemed unsafe. The five ghee brands facing a sales ban include Avik, Salona Gold, Shri Mahesh, Shri Rudra, and Dairy Nice.

Bans on Popular Brands

The department has been actively addressing complaints regarding irregularities in mineral and packaged drinking water. Previously, on January 24, 39 companies faced similar consequences. Many brands from various districts were found unfit for consumption, including Global Brand from Mainpuri, Neet H2O and Royal Challenge from Prayagraj, and others.

Widespread Issues Across Districts

Additionally, brands like Super Five Star from Gonda, Amrit Piyo, and Relax, Aqua Health from Ambedkarnagar, and others did not meet standards. The list continues with Kingsmen from Barabanki, OXY, Gyanvi Foodtech, and LAP, among others. The Commissioner has instructed all companies to provide a complete inventory report within 48 hours.
