On Friday, Jay Shah, the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), attended the IPL 2026 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He was joined by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, and together they chose to watch the game from the stands alongside 1,000 specially abled individuals, opting out of the VIP section.

Match Highlights: GT vs KKR

In this exciting match, KKR, led by Ajinkya Rahane, batted first but found themselves struggling at 32-3 within just four overs. Cameron Green then partnered with Rovman Powell, who scored 27 runs, to form a 55-run partnership. Green later teamed up with Anukul Roy for another 60-run partnership, finishing with a commendable 79 runs off 55 balls, helping KKR reach a total of 180 runs in 20 overs, a score that seemed challenging early on.

Gujarat Titans, driven by captain Shubman Gill's impressive 86 runs, successfully chased down KKR's total with two balls to spare and five wickets in hand, marking KKR's fifth consecutive loss in IPL 2026. Kagiso Rabada's bowling performance, with figures of 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs, was pivotal for GT.

IPL 2026 Points Table Update

Following this victory, Gujarat Titans have climbed to fourth place in the points table. In contrast, KKR is languishing at the bottom, having lost all six of their matches, with one point from an abandoned game against Punjab Kings. While GT is on a three-match winning streak, their net run rate (NRR) is just above zero, whereas other teams, including the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, boast NRRs exceeding +1.

Upcoming Matches

Gujarat Titans, under Shubman Gill's leadership, will face Mumbai Indians (MI) at the same venue on Monday. Meanwhile, KKR will take on Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
