According to the report of Free Press Journal, Ranveer Singh wanted to use violence and abusive language in the film.

He said that the character of Don should no longer be of the old era. In today’s era, the audience likes more violent and rough films, hence ‘Don’ should also change its ‘DNA’ accordingly. Ranveer wanted violence and language to be shown in the film in a modern and more violent style. But Farhan Akhtar was completely against this.

Farhan was saving the classical don

He clearly said that Amitabh Bachchan in the first film of Don franchise and Shahrukh Khan in the second film never used abusive words or abuses. Farhan wanted the film to be made in the same class and style as he had thought from the beginning. He was not ready to change the original taste of the film under any kind of pressure. A source told that Farhan was very confident and said, ‘I will make the same film which I had planned initially.’ Ultimately, there was no consensus between the two on this issue and Ranveer Singh decided to leave ‘Don 3’.

The controversy escalated so much that Excel Entertainment demanded compensation of Rs 40 crore from Ranveer Singh. The company said that a lot of pre-production work had been completed even before Ranveer’s consent, on which a lot of money had been spent. Later news came that Ranveer Singh has agreed to return some part of this compensation.
