Lloyds Bank will close 37 branches across the UK in June as part of the banking group's closure campaign. At least 168 Lloyds Banking Group branches are set to close in 2026 and 2027, following the Group's announcement on February 11 that an additional 95 branches would shut across Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland.
Birmingham will lose four stores next month, Hull will see two branches disappear, and London will say bye to four branches, according to Money Saving Expert. A spokesperson said this will give customers flexibility, with more than 21 million customers using Lloyds' apps as their main way to bank.
They said: "Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before."
The trend has been seen across many UK high streets. Santander is also undergoing a major closure programme, similar to NatWest. All banks have cited online banking as the deciding factor.
Critics said that bank closures will impact the most vulnerable, who have no access to internet banking, or who may not be able to travel further afield to other bank locations.
Customers can access in-person banking services at any of Lloyds' brands, including Halifax and Bank of Scotland. They will be able to deposit cash, make withdrawals and pay in cheques.
Customers can also use banking hubs, which are shared spaces run by the Post Office, to deposit and withdraw cash, get face-to-face support and manage their accounts. As of February, there were 214 hubs up and running around the UK.
