Revenge of the Nerds star Donald Gibb has died following a prolonged battle with health problems, his son has confirmed. The beloved actor was 71 years old. Best known for his iconic portrayal of Ogre in the Revenge of the Nerds franchise, Gibb also appeared in other hugely popular Hollywood films, including Bloodsport, in which he shared the screen with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and TV shows like Seinfeld. His son, Travis, revealed that the star passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home in Texas.

It is understood his death was not unexpected, with the actor having struggled with health difficulties for some considerable time. His son described how the actor loved the Lord and his family, friends and fans wholeheartedly. Speaking to TMZ, Travis requested prayers and privacy during this painful period, adding that his father will "be deeply missed and forever remembered".

Following the announcement of his passing, devoted fans took to social media to pay their respects. One user on X shared a clip from Bloodsport and wrote: "Donald Gibb (Ray Jackson from Bloodsport) passed away at 71. RIP.

"The dude that stepped into the Kumite, BEAT THE HELL OUT OF CHONG LI... and then got taken out by a cheap kick to the stomach. 80s legend we'll never forget. Thanks for the show, big man."
