At present, a very strange and dual form of weather is being seen in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, many states are facing severe storms, torrential rains and lightning, while on the other hand, some areas are still scorching in the grip of extreme heat and deadly heat. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very scary warning for the people of Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. The Meteorological Department has declared ‘red alert’, describing the next 2 hours as extremely critical. The administration has appealed to the people to immediately move away from trees, electric poles and weak buildings.
According to the latest information received from the Meteorological Department (IMD), strong winds with a storm speed of 60 kilometers per hour are going to blow in the districts of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, Amethi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur and Unnao within the next few hours. Along with this, there is full possibility of heavy rain and lightning along with thunder. Apart from UP, a similar dangerous red alert has also been issued for Rayagada district of Odisha.
Meteorologists say that the speed of rain in the affected areas will be so fast that more than 15 mm of water can rain in just one hour. Due to such strong winds, there is every possibility of uprooting of big trees, breaking of electric wires, power outages and road jams. The local administration has appealed to the public with folded hands to remain safe inside their homes until the weather calms down completely and not to step out without any reason. According to experts, it is difficult to predict when and where lightning will strike in this season. Therefore, farmers and cattle herders have been advised not to go to fields or open fields.
Amidst this terrible disaster, the Meteorological Department has also issued ‘Orange Alert’ in many districts of Uttar Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and Meghalaya. Dust storm with speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour and moderate rain is expected in these states. Talking about Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Barabanki, Ghazipur, Gonda and Jaunpur have been kept in the Orange Alert category. Apart from this, there is every possibility of worsening weather in the mountains of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Jodhpur, Ajmer and Kota of Rajasthan.
An even more surprising picture of the weather is emerging from Andhra Pradesh in South India. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), while the mercury has crossed 44 degrees in some districts of the state, rain has started in some areas. The highest temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Achampet in Palanadu district, while the mercury was 43.9 degrees in Kavali in Nellore. In contrast, light to moderate rain has been predicted in Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Chittoor districts. Scientists believe that the weather is taking this strange turn due to a cyclonic circulation from Vidarbha to the Bay of Bengal.
IMD and administration have issued some important rules to save people’s lives. If you hear lightning or thunder in the sky, immediately take shelter in a permanent house. Do not park your bike or car under any tree or hoarding, because the risk of them falling during a strong storm is highest. Drivers have been instructed to keep their vehicle speed slow as it may be difficult to see ahead due to heavy rain. The next few hours are extremely heavy for many parts of the country, so keep an eye on the official updates from moment to moment.
