The internet is once again in detective mode, searching for answers on the case of Taylor Swift.

Now, a new countdown clock was up on the singer’s official website on June 1, hinting at a new announcement that will take place at 2 PM ET and Swifties were immediately making the leap to another rumour that has been swirling around in recent weeks: Swift and Toy Story 5.

The newest speculation started to gather steam following Pop Base’s tweet that Swift will announce the news later in the day about Toy Story 5. At roughly the same time, fans saw a countdown with pastel sky graphics and clouds, an image that many fans immediately connected with the iconic wallpaper that appears in Andy’s room in all Pixar’s Toy Story movies.

“TS” billboards and other Pixar easter eggs had already sparked fan theories that Swift might be connected to the animated sequel when it was reported earlier this week by Variety. Social media fans also noted that the film’s release coincides with 20 years after Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw” was released in 2006, a date which is also being touted as a “clue” for the release.

Though it is a big announcement, there has been no official word from Disney, Pixar or Taylor’s team yet about what they are hinting at for the countdown.

Some fans believe Swift could be involved with an original soundtrack song. Others believe that she might talk as another character. One aspect of the fandom is sure that the countdown might not have anything to do with her music at all but instead her own catalog.

But, the visual timing has just amplified the Pixar theory. Billboard reported today that Taylor had been performing a countdown of sorts in the style of the Toy Story movie, while several entertainment outlets tracked the sudden surge of fan excitement on X and Instagram.

At present, Swifties are waiting in anticipation. The countdown has already accomplished one thing, it has conquered the internet hours before the reveal, whether it is a collaborative effort between Toy Story 5 or a surprise announcement from Taylor, it’s going to be a thing.

But in the case of Taylor Swift, there might be one more thing they haven’t noticed yet that’s the biggest clue.
