Luciano Spalletti remains steadfast in his commitment to Juventus, even after encountering obstacles during the early phase of the summer transfer window. Despite speculation suggesting he might consider stepping down, sources close to the situation have firmly denied any such intentions.
As reported by Calciomercato.com, Spalletti has already faced multiple challenges — including the unavailability of Alisson Becker, the breakdown of negotiations for Bernardo Silva, and ongoing issues surrounding Dusan Vlahovic’s contract. Nevertheless, he continues to stay focused on assembling the squad he envisions for the upcoming season.
The ideal moment for Spalletti to resign, if he had chosen to, would have been during his end-of-season discussions with John Elkann and Chief Executive Officer Damien Comolli. Instead, the Italian tactician opted to reaffirm his commitment to the club’s long-term project.
Spalletti is approaching the rebuilding process systematically, concentrating on what he views as the essential framework of a successful team — a reliable goalkeeper, a strong centre-back, a commanding central midfielder, a creative attacking midfielder, and a clinical striker.
For each of these positions, Spalletti has identified both a primary and an alternative target. In goal, he is considering Emiliano Martinez and Guglielmo Vicario. For the defensive line, Kim Min-jae and Joel Ordonez are on the shortlist. In midfield, Leon Goretzka remains a target despite complications regarding his salary. For the attacking midfield role, Brahim Diaz is the preferred option, while Alexander Sorloth and Randal Kolo Muani are under consideration for the forward position. Spalletti has even personally reached out to Sorloth to persuade him to join Juventus.
The coach fully recognises that the absence of UEFA Champions League football limits the club’s ability to attract certain top-tier players. Accepting this reality, Spalletti has resolved to work diligently with the resources that Juventus management can secure.
