The former Chennai Super Kings opener was chasing 221 runs against Seattle Orcas. There he smacked 113 runs at a strike rate over 217, 9 boundaries, and 7 sixes.
While TSK won the match by 7 wickets, Faf du Plessis entered the record book, becoming the oldest cricketer to score a T20 century. The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain was 41 years and 340 days old on June 18, 2026, when he made the record at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
Earlier, the record was held by Paul Collingwood, the first England captain to win a T20 World Cup (2010). Paul made the record when he was 41 years and 65 days old, scored 108 runs off 60 balls for Durham against Worcestershire in a NatWest T20 Blast match at Worcester on July 30, 2017.

Notably, the Texas Super Kings skipper now has three T20 centuries after turning 40, making him the only player in the world to register multiple hundreds beyond that age. His record-breaking ton on Thursday (Friday IST) powered TSK to a remarkable chase of 221, with the side sealing a six-wicket victory in just 18.3 overs.
With that innings, du Plessis crossed the 1,000-run mark in Major League Cricket, taking his tally to 1,001 runs in the tournament.
