England club side Dumbleton Cricket Club apparently produced one of those huge T20 batting nights, like the sort you don’t really forget, after posting 417-2 vs Hatherley and Reddings Cricket Club, in a West of England League game on July 8.
It wasn’t just big it was, in a way, a sort of batting storm. The innings was paced by Ewan Gegg, who stayed unbeaten on 206 from 55 balls pretty much exactly. That knock, wildly effective, pushed Dumbleton to a run rate of 20.85 per over. They also clubbed 47 sixes and 22 fours, and now the club is waiting to see if the score will be officially logged as a world record, or something close to that.
Ewan Gegg and Dan Holland, “run feast” leaders
Dumbleton started like they meant it, with openers Thomas Kelly and Ewan Gegg putting the pressure on early. Kelly made 64 from 25 balls, with three fours and seven sixes before his dismissal.
Gegg then took it further, reaching 206 not out from just 55 deliveries. In his spell of dominance there were 13 fours and 23 sixes, at a strike rate of 374.55. The openers had already put on 112 runs in just six overs, which is honestly ridiculous for a league match.
After Kelly’s wicket, Dan Holland stepped in and the whole innings seemed to jump a gear again. Holland smashed 122 from 37 balls, backed by four boundaries and 16 sixes. Gegg and Holland then tacked on 211 runs for the second wicket in only 59 balls.
Ethan Pietkiewicz stayed unbeaten with 15 from five balls, as Dumbleton finished on a massive 417-2 in their full 20 overs.

Club waiting for official world record nod
The England club’s view is that this could end up being the highest score ever in any T20 match, if all variations of competitive club cricket are counted.
Club spokesman Peter Boorman said:
“This started as a normal Tuesday evening league game and by the end of the night everyone realised they’d witnessed something extraordinary. We’ve spent the last 24 hours researching scorecards from all over the world and the more we’ve looked, the more significant it appears to become. Whether one record or several are eventually recognised, it was amazing entertainment from both sides!”
So for now, Dumbleton is holding off on the celebrations until some official confirmation arrives.
Hatherley and Reddings, still battling even under pressure
Even with such a gigantic target, Hatherley and Reddings Cricket Club didn’t fold instantly. Opener Harry Bloomfield made 109 from 48 balls, striking at 227.08, and he gave his side a decent start.
The visitors finished on 229 in 19.1 overs. The game as a whole produced 646 runs in 39.1 overs, and that makes it one of the highest-scoring T20 contests ever played, at least by those counting it.
Could this be the biggest T20 total ever
If it gets recognised, Dumbleton’s 417-2 would become the biggest team total in T20 cricket including club matches. One of the closest totals people often cite was 416, made by India’s Maavi back in 2017.
For the recognised professional T20 scene, Baroda ’s 349 still stands as the highest team total, while Zimbabwe’s 344-4 vs Gambia is the top figure in men’s T20 internationals.
Dumbleton Cricket Club still needs to wait for official confirmation, but regardless, the innings already turned into one of the main cricket conversation pieces out there, like, instantly.
