Bengaluru: The skeletal remains of a 52-year-old woman were recovered from a locked duplex house in the city’s Bagalagunte area, nearly a year after she died. The discovery was made at a residence in Havanur Layout, where the woman had reportedly been living alone.

The deceased has been identified as Dakshayini. Police believe she may have died around a year ago, but her death went unnoticed as no family member or relative reportedly visited the house during that period, as reported by NDTV.

Her daughter and son-in-law are said to have remained out of contact with her, with police also learning that Dakshayini had changed her mobile phone number.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that Dakshayini had been struggling with depression following the deaths of her husband and son. Her husband, Umesh, died about a decade ago, while her son later succumbed to cancer.

Bagalagunte police have inspected the premises and begun an investigation to establish when and how she died. The skeletal remains are expected to undergo forensic examination, which will help determine the cause of death and provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the case, as reported by India TV News. Police are also questioning Dakshayini’s family members  and collecting information from local residents as part of the investigation.
