Lucknow: Central government employees and pensioners are keeping an eye on the 8th Pay Commission. At the same time, lakhs of government employees of Uttar Pradesh also want to know when the new pay scale will be implemented in the state. At present, no official date or final decision regarding the 8th Pay Commission has been issued by the UP government. In such a situation, it is not possible to give a definite timeline for implementation.

What is the situation in UP?

No official notification or cabinet decision has come yet regarding the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission in Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, employees will have to wait for the government's decision for information to new salary, fitment factor and salary increase.

However, further process can be estimated on the basis of previous pay commissions. The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were approved by the UP government in December 2016 and the revised pay scale was made effective from January 1, 2017. At that time the fitment factor of 2.57 was applicable.

The decision was taken first after the Centre.

Even in the case of 6th Pay Commission, Uttar Pradesh had taken forward its process after the decision of the Centre. The recommendations were implemented in the state in August 2008 and payment of revised wages started from December 2008. However, its effect was considered to be from 1 January 2006.

What can happen on 8th Pay Commission?

Looking at the past record, there is a possibility that after the process moves forward at the central level, the UP government may also consider the pay scale of its employees. But the Centre's decision is not automatically implemented in the state. For this, the UP government will have to assess the financial situation and complete the cabinet and administrative process.
