IND vs SL: The second match of the two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Colombo from August 23. Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series by winning the first test in Galle by 165 runs. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, the Indian team is now eyeing a clean sweep of the series by winning the second test, but the weather has increased the tension.

Shadow of rain in Colombo for all five days, danger of over cutting

The weather forecast for Colombo has predicted rain and clouds for all five days. According to many agencies including AccuWeather, there will be a risk of light to moderate rain or passing showers every day from August 23 to August 27. There is no guarantee of completely clear weather on any given day.

This does not mean that the entire match will be washed out, but intermittent rain is a big concern. Due to this, overs can be reduced, sessions can be washed out and the result of the match can be affected. If India wants to make a clean sweep then it will have to overcome this challenge of weather also.

Rain had troubled Galle also, still India won

This fear is not new for Team India. Even in the Galle Test, rain continuously disrupted the play. On the second day, play started with a delay of about four hours and even the full 90 overs could not be completed on the first day.

The game had to be stopped several times. Despite this, India performed brilliantly. In the debut test, Manav Suthar performed brilliantly with the ball and played an important role in restricting Sri Lanka's second innings to 206 runs.

India won by 165 runs and interestingly, it started raining heavily immediately after the win. Now this same temperament can test Team India in Colombo also.

Why is the second test important for India?

India is leading 1-0 in the series. As soon as they win the second test, they will win the series 2-0. Team India's effort is not only to win the series but also to clean sweep Sri Lanka in its own home.

Apart from this, this match is also very important in terms of the race for the World Test Championship 2025-27. Winning as many Tests as possible will strengthen India's position in the race for the final.

After Sri Lanka, India has to play two Tests against New Zealand in November and then a big five-Test series against Australia at home. In such a situation, winning both the matches against Sri Lanka will make the path ahead easier.
