Anthony Joshua has revealed that Tyson Fury ’s uncle, Peter Fury , has been helping him prepare for his December fight against Tyson Fury in Cardiff . The revelation came at the first face-off between the two heavyweights in London on September 30. Joshua also confirmed that former Fury trainer Ben Davison is part of his team. Tyson Fury responded calmly to the news, saying, ‘Not to worry,’ and, ‘I’ve not spoken to him for years.’ The fight is scheduled for December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, with the two former world champions set for a £150 million purse.

Anthony Joshua reveals Peter Fury’s role ahead of Tyson Fury fightJoshua’s comments added a surprising twist to the build-up. Peter Fury, Tyson Fury’s uncle and former trainer, is now giving Joshua advice on training and his approach to the fight. The Independent reported that Joshua said he speaks to Peter and that the two get along.

Joshua made clear that Peter was not giving him a list of Tyson Fury’s habits or tactics. Instead, the advice was about Joshua himself and what he could improve before stepping into the ring.

Joshua said: ‘Ben’s pinpointing details which will make the difference on the night.’

He has also brought Ben Davison back into his team. Davison previously worked with Fury and later trained Joshua. Fury was not impressed by the reunion and used the press conference to question whether Davison could help Joshua against him.

Fury said: ‘Ben can’t put muscles on that suspect chin.’

At the event, the pair shared a lengthy stare-down but ended the session smiling. Fury called it ‘probably the greatest fight boxing’s ever seen if you factor in the commercial aspect’.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua set for £150m Cardiff showdownJoshua said he had taken a major cut to help bring the event back to Britain rather than have it take place in New York. His promoter Eddie Hearn called the reduction ‘Twelve figures’, meaning at least £10 million.

The reported £150 million purse is to be split equally between Joshua and Fury. Joshua said: ‘Both of us want to do British boxing proud.’ Joshua said bringing the fight home made the financial sacrifice worthwhile for him.

Fury also spoke about what happens after the fight, with the pair keeping the mood light despite what is at stake. Fury invited Joshua to have ‘a pint of Guinness as soon as the fight over, win lose or draw’.

However, the claims about Peter Fury need some context. On October 3, The Sun reported that Tyson Fury and Peter Fury had disputed the suggestion that Peter had joined Joshua’s camp. Peter said he had spoken with Joshua about his skills months earlier but is currently focused on training Rico Verhoeven. Tyson Fury also rejected the idea that his uncle would help Joshua specifically against him.

That means the September 30 press conference established that Joshua had been speaking with Peter Fury, but the description of Peter as a full member of Joshua’s camp has since been challenged. The December 11 fight at Principality Stadium remains the focus, with Joshua and Fury now less than three months away from finally meeting professionally.
