West Indies produced a sensational performance in the third and final ODI against India, securing a thrilling five-wicket victory. Chasing a challenging target of 352 runs, the visitors reached 352/5 in 48.2 overs, thanks to a magnificent unbeaten century by captain Shai Hope. With this win, West Indies finished the series on a high, although India had already established a 2-1 lead in the series.

Shai Hope’s Brilliant 162 Leads West Indies to Victory

Captain Shai Hope was the undisputed star of the match. The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 162 off 143 deliveries, smashing 17 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 113.29.

West Indies lost an early wicket during the chase, but Hope held one end firmly and continued to score runs with confidence. He combined patience with attacking stroke play, ensuring that the required run rate remained under control.

Hope’s experience proved crucial as he handled the Indian bowlers effectively and guided his team towards the target. His unbeaten innings ultimately became the defining factor in West Indies’ memorable victory.

Amir Jangoo and Keemo Paul Provide Valuable Support

Hope received excellent support from Amir Jangoo, who scored 67 runs off 56 balls. The pair helped stabilise the innings and kept the chase on track before Jangoo was run out.

After his dismissal, Sherfane Rutherford contributed 24 runs, while Keemo Paul played an important finishing role. Paul scored a quickfire 44 off just 35 deliveries, helping West Indies cross the finish line with 10 balls to spare.

KL Rahul’s Century Goes in Vain

Earlier, India posted a formidable total of 351/7 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma provided a strong foundation with 92 runs off 85 balls, while KL Rahul delivered an outstanding unbeaten 129 off 87 deliveries.

Ruturaj Gaikwad added 57 runs, and Naman Dhir contributed 30, helping India build a competitive total. Rahul’s aggressive century gave India a strong platform, but the bowling attack could not defend the target.

Mohammed Siraj, Gurnoor Brar, Kuldeep Yadav and Naman Dhir claimed one wicket each for India.

West Indies Finish the Series with a Statement Victory

Despite India’s strong batting performance, Shai Hope’s remarkable innings changed the course of the match. West Indies demonstrated composure under pressure and secured a memorable win in the final ODI.

The result gave West Indies a confidence-boosting victory, while India will look to assess its bowling options and strengthen its combination ahead of future international challenges.
