RCB Achieves Milestone in Digital Engagement
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has recently celebrated a significant milestone by amassing 20 million followers on Instagram. This achievement underscores RCB's dominance in the digital space, leveraging its extensive fan base to cultivate a strong online presence. In comparison, the combined Instagram following of all Big Bash League (BBL) teams is slightly over 2 million, highlighting RCB's impressive standing.
In a remarkable surge, RCB's follower count increased by over 2 million in just a few weeks, following their tally of 18 million in April 2025. The team has outperformed traditional IPL rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), establishing a notable lead in social media engagement.
The team's growth can be attributed to its engaging content, which resonates with fans. RCB shares behind-the-scenes moments, insights into players' lives outside of cricket, and interactive campaigns that foster a sense of community.
Rajesh Menon, RCB's Chief Operating Officer, discussed the team's approach to fan engagement earlier this year. He emphasized the importance of authenticity and regular interaction with supporters.
“We aim to be a part of our fans’ daily lives, ensuring we remain relevant and interesting. Our social media strategy thrives on authenticity, showcasing the personalities of our players and celebrating our incredible fan base,” Menon stated. Following a series of high-scoring victories, including a long-awaited win against CSK at Chepauk, RCB experienced a surge in followers. Currently positioned third in the league, RCB is eager to secure the top spot with a victory over LSG on May 27.
