Kerala Weather: On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department warned that the state will continue to have very high rainfall levels by issuing red and orange alerts in many districts. The meteorological agency has issued a red warning for three districts—Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur—and an orange alert for three more districts: Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kasaragod. Additionally, the state has issued a yellow alert for eight districts.
The IMD predicts that Kerala will have heavy rainfall over the next five days.
Isolated locations of Kerala’s Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod are predicted to see strong gusts of up to 60 kmph over the course of the next several hours, in addition to thunderstorms and significant rain.
The weather office has issued warnings for moderate rain and the possibility of strong gusts of up to 50 kmph in isolated regions in all other districts.
While exceptionally heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts, the scenario is similar to a red alert.
A yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Palakkad, and isolated, heavy rain is possible.
Many Keralans were forced to shift to safer places and relief camps as a result of the havoc caused by the torrential rains. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the harsh monsoon has caused four deaths in the state thus far.
The CMO claims that 868 people have been harmed and that up to 29 homes have been damaged around the state. Additionally, it said that there are now five relief camps in Wayanad and one each in Idukki and Kozhikode.
