Belthangady: A 19-year-old student lost his life and the rider sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle skidded and crashed into a road divider on Saturday, March 28. The accident occurred on the Ujire-Dharmasthala State Highway, in front of a lodge on College Road.


The deceased pillion rider has been identified as Nitesh (19), son of Chandrashekhar and a resident of Ammanangady in Laila village. The rider, Likhith (20), a resident of Puttur, suffered critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ujire.


The incident reportedly took place around 12:30 AM on Saturday night while the duo was returning from an event. The motorcycle skidded and collided with the divider, resulting in the fatal impact.


Belthangady Traffic Police visited the spot for inspection and have registered a case regarding the incident.
