February 22, Fatorda (Goa) [India]: According to an ISL press release, FC Goa will take against Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024–25 on Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. IST at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.
With four games left and 39 points from 20 games—11 wins and six draws—the Gaurs, who have already qualified for the playoffs, will be looking to finish in second place. In contrast to Kerala Blasters FC, who are now in eighth place with 24 points from 20 games after losing twice in their previous three meetings, they are playing well, having won four of their past five games.
Given that the Blues have lost three of their past four games, Kerala Blasters FC would try to close the 31-point gap with sixth-place Bengaluru FC.
Since losing a home game against the Kochi-based team back in October 2016, FC Goa has won all five of their previous meetings here. In all, the Gaurs have won six of their last seven meetings in Fatorda and have not lost any of them.
Kerala Blasters FC lost at Mohun Bagan Super Giant 0–3 in their most recent road encounter, going scoreless. They would not want to replicate the situation anytime soon. The last time they failed to score in consecutive road games was in December 2023.
With 41 shot-ending high turnovers and eight goal-ending turnovers, the Gaurs have committed 131 high turnovers in the ISL 2024–25, more than any other team. This enables them to control the game in the opponent’s last third and disturb the opponents in their own half.
Armando Sadiku (9) and Brison Fernandes (7) top the rankings with 38 goals, the fourth-most in the league so far. Iker Guarrotxena and Borja Herrera have scored five goals each.
The Kochi-based squad has scored the most goals in the second half of games (77%, 23 out of 30), demonstrating that FC Goa cannot let their guard down even if they take the lead early.
With Adrian Luna (45) and Noah Sadaoui (38), Kerala Blasters FC has created the fifth-most goal-scoring chances (206) in the ISL 2024–25.
In their 21 meetings, FC Goa and Kerala Blasters FC have won 12 and 5, respectively, while four of their encounters have ended in draws.
Before the match, FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez praised Kerala Blasters FC’s overall talent.
“The game tomorrow is really risky. The attacking players on the Kerala Blasters FC roster are very strong. According to an ISL news release, Manolo Marquez said, “I respect their former coach, but I feel they are more comfortable now than they were in the first half of the season.”
TG Purushothaman, the interim head coach of Kerala Blasters FC, said that his squad must increase their conversion rate up front.
“We performed well in the last game, but we were unable to convert our opportunities. In the game against FC Goa, we shall attempt to resolve it as a team,” TG Purushothaman said.
Adrian Luna of Kerala Blasters FC has attempted 140 crosses in 2024–25, which is second in the league. He has also contributed six assists.
Boris Singh of FC Goa has the second-most progressive carries of any Indian player since the beginning of 2025 with 58. This season, he has contributed one goal and one assist.
