Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Shekhar Singh presented the municipal budget for FY 2025-26 on Friday. The budget outlined an estimated expenditure of ₹6,256.39 crore, while the total outlay, including state and centrally sponsored schemes, stood at ₹9,675.27 crore.

Following this, the residents within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits are now asking when the PMC will present its budget. Meanwhile, Ulka Kalaskar, head of PMC's accounts department, said the civic body is likely to present its budget for FY 2025-26 in the first week of March.

"It is expected that all the works related to the budget, including printing, will be completed in the next 15 days. The civic body is planning to present the budget in the first week of March," said Kalaskar.

Last year, PMC’s budget stood at ₹11,601 crore, an increase from ₹9,515 crore in 2023-24. The budget estimates crossed the ₹10,000-crore mark for the first time in 2024-25.

Coming back to the PCMC budget, the civic body has given extra focus on infrastructure (₹1,962.72 crore), affordable housing (₹1,898 crore) and public transport (₹417 crore). Besides, to enhance property tax collection efficiency, PCMC is deploying advanced digital tools, including drone-based imaging. Water supply projects, including the Bhama Askhed Water Supply Scheme and the Pavana Water Pipeline Project, will receive significant allocations. Other major initiatives include drainage system upgrades, enhanced fire safety infrastructure, climate action planning, integrated solid waste management, and river rejuvenation efforts under the Mula-Pavana-Indrayani River Rejuvenation Project.

Speaking about the budget, Shekhar Singh said, "Our vision for 2025-26 is to strengthen financial sustainability and accountability, enhance smart governance and public service delivery, promote education and skill development, build a sustainable and climate-resilient urban ecosystem and also ensure social equity and community."

He added, "This budget reflects our commitment to making Pimpri-Chinchwad an internationally recognised, sustainable and progressive city. Our financial planning prioritises infrastructure, economic growth and an improved quality of life for our citizens."
