A man enjoying a swim at a popular tourist destination was airlifted to hospital when he was suddenly .


The unnamed person was at the Tangalooma Wrecks on Moreton Island, a cluster of ships purposefully sunk between the 1960s and 80s. The area on the attracts several marine creatures, including fish and dolphins.


On Saturday, it also attracted a shark which suddenly attacked the tourist. He suffered several injuries and was airlifted to Hospital. Queensland Ambulance Service said: “ A shark bite incident was reported in the waters near The Wrecks Walking Track at 3pm.

Earlier this month, also in Queensland, a popular teenager was during an afternoon swim after earlier posting about her love of the sea. Charlize Zmuda, 17, suffered “catastrophic injuries" to her arm and body in a horror at around 4.45pm Monday local time on Bribie Island.


Beachgoers reported hearing screams as paramedics rushed to the scene, but she was unable to be saved and died of her injuries. The last social media post showed Charlize at the idyllic beach with her surf board, while another photo showed her enjoying the ocean waves. She wrote simply: “Bribie ‘25.”


Several friends responded with their messages of love and support. One said: “Rest in peace beautiful, you seemed to love the ocean so much.”


Another added: “I’m so lucky to have known you, rest in peace gorgeous girl.” Another said: “May you rest in peace. My heart is just broken for you and your family.”
