In today's era, the number of couples giving priority to career and freedom is continuously increasing. 'Dink' means 'dual income, no kids' is the lifestyle that couples adopt in which both people earn but do not want children. This trend has gained momentum due to increasing dependence on automation and professional growth. In view of urban lifestyle, inflation and personal aspirations, young couples are giving priority to their career and lifestyle.

Benefits of dink lifestyle

The biggest advantage of adopting dink lifestyle is economic freedom. On this, Sushmita Upadhyay, a clinical psychologist of the mental health platform, says that due to the huge expenses to children- such as decare, education and health services, such couples have more disposable income. They can invest this amount in travel, hobby or savings. This improves the quality of life and gives flexibility in career, because they do not need to maintain the responsibilities of parents as well as to balance the work.

Apart from this, emotional relations between dink couples are also deep. They have an opportunity to spend more time for each other, which can make the relationship more strong and satisfactory. Without children's responsibilities, they not only take time to develop their relationship but can also focus on personal development.

Possible loss of dink lifestyle

However, there are some possible negative aspects of Dink lifestyle. Sushmita Upadhyay says that as the age of couples grows, they can feel lonely, especially when they do not have children to take care of. In Indian society, where the family is considered to be the most important structure, the absence of children can sometimes make the emptiness to a culture. There may be a lack of emotional and physical support in the elderly.

Increasing impact of Dink trend in urban India

Dink lifestyle has become very common in Western countries, but now it is becoming increasingly popular in urban areas of India. Young professionals have started giving more importance to career and personal desires than traditional expectations. However, still many families and relatives look at this lifestyle with suspicion and social pressure is made on such couples.
