Wetherspoons, a cornerstone of , is known for its distinctive and often garish carpet designs.

While most patrons are more interested in the affordable food and drink, there's actually a reason behind the bold floor coverings. Every Brit is familiar with cheap and cheerful offerings.

The decor may raise eyebrows, and the carpets are famously loud, but it turns out there's a method to the madness. With over 900 Wetherspoons pubs scattered across the UK, each one boasts a unique and personalised carpet.

This detail was revealed by Jon Randall, Wetherspoons' head of property development and acquisitions. Jon previously explained: "We place particular emphasis on the design of our new pubs, investing heavily in every aspect, as well as in the refurbishment of our older premises.

"With more than 900 pubs, that is a lot of carpet. All of our new pub carpets are individually designed, some with details to reflect aspects of the building's history or local area."

Kit Caless from London, has taken it upon himself to document these unique designs. He's created an online catalogue called "Wetherspoons Carpets", where he showcases each unique pattern in a tribute to the pub chain's distinctive floor coverings.

Kit revealed: "My goal is to visit all the Wetherspoon's and take a photo of them; and maybe buy a swift half for my troubles. Or at least enlist some help in this mammoth task."

He was "amazed to learn that each one has a totally unique carpet" and after some persuasion from his daughters, he has now documented all of the different carpets.

"While Kit has visited a fair number of pubs on his quest for unique carpets, he's also had some assistance from fans who share their carpet discoveries with him and asked them to send in their submissions to his website.

Despite having "no connection at all with J D ", Kit said "it's just a bit of fun for myself and my family".

Even though the vibrant carpets are loud, they're preferable to a sticky pub floor. However, they don't come cheap.

It's reported that the carpets cost a staggering £20,000 to £30,000 each. This is because they're made by luxury carpet manufacturer Axminster Carpets on a traditional loom.

Next time you're in your local Wetherspoons, take a moment to look at the carpet and see what design it has, and you could even contribute it to Kit's catalogue of carpets.
