Amanda Seyfried, reflecting on her role in the 2009 horror film Jennifer’s Bodyhas publicly criticised the film’s initial marketing campaign, attributing its box office failure to a mismanaged promotional strategy. Speaking to GQSeyfried, who portrayed Needy Lesnicki, lauded the film’s merits, highlighting the screenplay by Diablo Cody and the direction of Karyn Kusama.

“I can’t critique this movie, to me it’s perfect,” Seyfried stated. She further commended the film’s special effects and stunt work, noting its comprehensive genre appeal.

Despite its later recognition as a feminist cult classic, Jennifer’s Body faced critical and commercial disappointment upon its release. Seyfried attributed this to the marketing team’s approach. She argued that the campaign “cheapened it like it was just a gory romp,” failing to capture the film’s nuanced themes.

Seyfried expressed a fondness for her character, Needy, and her collaborative experience with Megan Fox, who played the titular Jennifer Check. “It was the first time I got to play really nerdy, wearing the glasses. Megan got to turn into a demon, it was awesome. We all just had a lot of fun,” she recalled.

The actor also voiced her desire for a sequel, despite the narrative challenges posed by Jennifer’s death in the original film. “She’s kind of dead, right? But is she? I don’t think she is,” Seyfried speculated, leaving open the possibility of Jennifer’s return.
