Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will be looking to put their losses in their respective opening games of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 behind them and get back to winning ways.

GT will be playing their second consecutive home game, while MI will be on the road once again. Mumbai's opening game was against arch-rivals CSK, and it went awry straight away. Khaleel Ahmed's double hit in the powerplay left the opposition reeling, and Noor Ahmad's four-wicket burst in the middle made things worse as none of the players could kick on. Deepak Chahar then put in timely death over strikes to give his team something to bowl at.

Ruturaj Gaikwad brought out his finest speed-batting skills and when he was dismissed, it looked like CSK were cruising home. Senior cricket debutant Vignesh Puthur then took three crucial wickets to stall CSK's chase, but Rachin Ravindra remained composed throughout the carnage to take the Yellove Army home.

The Titans' loss to PBKS in Ahmedabad was not necessarily a thriller, but it turned out to be a very high-scoring fixture nevertheless. Priyansh Arya made a splash, but it was skipper Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 97 that gave Punjab the respite they needed from a middle order collapse. Shashank Singh also lashed out in the final over to put up a daunting 243.

GT came out intending to chase the total, with B Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler's fifties proving vital to their effort. GT were definitely on track to chase down their total, but Vijaykumar Vyshak bowled two very tight overs that left the hosts with too much to do at the end.

The surface is expected to be a belter as has been the norm in most places. More matches have been won batting second here, but that option is becoming less and less favourable with the tall totals.
