To clean these buckets, it’s essential to remove the dried paint. If you wait too long, the paint can become stubborn, requiring harsh scrubbing and costly cleaning products. Surprisingly, a simple Rs 1 shampoo can help you eliminate paint stains with ease. All you need is to combine a couple of ingredients.

In this guide, we will share how to restore an old paint bucket to its former glory without the need for scrubbing or expensive cleaners.

Begin by filling the bucket with cold or lukewarm water and let it sit for 24 hours. Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda and stir. The following day, slice two lemons and heat a pot of water. Once heated, mix in the Rs 1 shampoo and boil for about 5 minutes while stirring.

After boiling, turn off the heat and pour the mixture into the bucket. Allow it to sit for 1-2 hours. Then, scrub the interior by hand and rinse thoroughly with clean water. For particularly stubborn paint, some scrubbing may still be necessary.

For smaller steel paint cans, salt can be an effective cleaning agent. Boil 2-3 tablespoons of salt and alum in water. Pour the hot mixture into the can and let it sit for 2-3 hours. Afterward, gently scrub the interior with a brush to remove any remaining paint.
