Residents of Greater Noida will soon have to pay more for their water consumption as the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has announced a 10% increase in water bills. The revised rates have been finalized and will be effective from April 1, 2025. Here’s a breakdown of how this change will impact different property categories and what consumers need to know.

Increased Water Tariffs Effective April 1

Starting April 1, residents of Greater Noida will see an increase in their monthly water bills. This is not the first time such an adjustment has been made; as part of an annual revision, GNIDA updates water charges regularly. The rate changes vary depending on the size and type of the property. Let’s take a look at the revised pricing structure.

Revised Water Tariffs for Different Property Categories

GNIDA supplies potable water to residential, industrial, commercial, and group housing properties across the city. The revised water charges will be as follows:

  • Residential Plots:

    • Plots up to 60 square meters: ₹173/month → ₹190/month

    • Plots between 60-120 square meters: ₹286/month → ₹315/month

    • Plots between 501-1,000 square meters: ₹1,854/month → ₹2,039/month

Maximum Impact on Housing Societies and Commercial Properties

The biggest impact of the rate hike will be on housing societies and large commercial plots:

  • Water bills for housing societies up to 1,000 square meters will rise from ₹7,500/month to ₹8,250/month.

  • Large plots exceeding 10 acres will have an additional charge of ₹14,124 per acre.

  • Some large commercial properties may see monthly water bills soaring to ₹1.8 lakh.

Impact on Industries and IT Companies

Industrial zones, educational institutions, and IT companies (ITES) will bear the highest water expenses:

  • Monthly water charges for these sectors will surge from ₹30,788 to over ₹90,000.

Discounts for Timely Payments

GNIDA has introduced an incentive for early payments:

  • Consumers who clear their entire annual bill between April and September will receive a 5% discount.

  • Those who delay payments beyond the financial year will face an 11% penalty.

Stay Prepared for Increased Costs

With the rise in water tariffs, residents and businesses in Greater Noida should plan their finances accordingly. To avoid penalties and maximize savings, consumers are encouraged to take advantage of the early payment discount. Keeping track of utility expenses and making timely payments can help in managing household and business budgets effectively.
