Director Shankar , once hailed as one of the most successful filmmakers in Indian cinema, has been facing a tough phase in his career. Despite his grand vision and signature storytelling style, his recent films have failed to leave an impact. His last two projects, 'Indian 2' and 'Game Changer,' did not perform well at the box office, leading to a significant dip in his market value. This series of setbacks has raised questions about the once-unshakable dominance of the ace director.
Shankar’s Career Setbacks and Aditi Shankar’s Rise in Cinema
While Shankar’s professional journey has seen ups and downs, his family has been making strides in the film industry. He has two daughters and a son. His elder daughter, Aishwarya, has stayed away from the limelight, choosing a different path. However, his younger daughter, Aditi, made a successful entry into cinema with 'Viruman' and later impressed audiences in Maaveeran, where she starred alongside Sivakarthikeyan. With both films turning into blockbuster hits, Aditi has now become a sought-after actress in Tamil cinema, receiving several promising film offers.
Arjith Shankar’s Entry into Films
Meanwhile, Shankar’s son, Arjith, has also stepped into the industry, but from behind the camera. He has been working as an assistant director under A.R. Murugadoss for 'Madharasi,' which features Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. Additionally, he was part of the directorial team for 'Game Changer,' as confirmed by Shankar himself in a recent interview.
According to Asianet, Arjith is all set to make his debut as a lead actor in Kollywood. Reports suggest that renowned choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Deva will helm his debut film. Prabhu Deva, known for directing hits like 'Pokkiri,' 'Villu,' and 'Engeyum Kadhal,' is expected to make his directorial comeback with this project. An official announcement regarding the film is expected soon.
